Reflection about making toast:

We had a really good experiment in toasting a bread. Well even when toasting a bread you must think in which temperature you must limit the toaster or else you might burn it. We had to toast a three slices of breads in the toaster of 1 to 7 maximum temperature to see in which number it will be the perfect toast. The first slice of bread we set the temperature at 4 and the result was a light perfect bread which is normal to eat. The second slice we set the temperature at 2 and the result was it didn’t really toasted at all. Finally, the last slice we set the temperature at 6 and the toast was burnt. To sum up, toasting a bread was to let us think more deep and be more accurate when trying anything even in simple actions.

Reflection about developing a research plan:

Firstly, we in group had to think and come up with question for the company that we chose. To determine some significant point. Secondly, we had to answer who is our target, when it will take place, where it will be and how we calculated the information, this is to calculate the correct and accurate information about them and that will be by distributing surveys in the work placement. Finally, we had to come up with 12 questions for our target audience to find out their attitudes, behavior, thoughts and ideas about the work place.

Reflection about how we calculated data:

We done surveys for employees which we thought is the easiest way to calculate the information which include 12 questions. We went to the work place in our holiday so that we get plenty of time to get our surveys done. But unfortunately they didn’t let us in because of their rules, but we manage it by calling one of our old friend who work in the same place. So by that we solve our problem and said to distribute the surveys for the employees and give us anytime. To conclude, we learned how to deal and face any problem and before we go anyplace we should call and search more about how their system works. Moreover, there are many easiest way than distributing surveys.

Final oral reflection on learning throughout the course:
From its name critical thinking is the mode of thinking about any subject, content, or problem in which we can improve our quality of thinking. I learned from critical thinking course the intellectually disciplined process such as applying, analyzing, synthesizing and evaluating information. Also, the most important thing that we had gain when we did our research and project is communication that gave us experience for now and for our future. Furthermore, we learned how to have clear, accurate, and precision in calculating and finding information. In my opinion, this was the best course I took because it’s not only learning by seeing but also by doing and it will benefit us for now and future. Hence, in less than 3 months this course gave me a great opportunity and a good skills such as communicating, planning and organizing to be more specific I learned how to analyze date for the survey, information seeking from employees through communication and predicting the work that was giving to us such as developing an advertisement and research plan.

In conclusion, I learned how to do accurate project step by step. Also, finish work and mange my time before the deadline time so that I don’t be in pressure. Moreover, I learned how to be precision in thinking hence in perfect intellectual way.

To make the advertisement more appealing for Emirati consumer try to include more different fruits  in the Vimto to make it taste good and for being more healthier. Also, provide verity types and flavor in vimto such as mango, strawberry and honey flavor. Furthermore, Vimto is drink we have to buy and then make it a juice by adding water and sugar in it so, they must provide vimto juice which is already made and you just have to drink it in small bottles with no artificial colors. Moreover, they can provide ice cream vimto which I think Emirati consumers will purchase more. Hence, candy from vimto and by that people will buy to their children’s.

Introduction

With growing business ties, many Indians have moved to Dubai in search of work and opportunity .In fact, the UAE is home to almost 2.7 million Indian workers according to the last statistics, some of them have great education degree and some of them don't .Our topic is why Indian workers with significant degree are working in position that do not fit with their degree .Actually we choose it because we want to know the important reasons for this situation as the majority of labor in Dubai are from India, in other words, Studying an Indian group is easier than any other nationality, . In addition, we choose these question to determine some significant point .Such as, is the education nowadays is important to have a job, also, to see if the workers are satisfaction about their position. Finally, Indians are widely known of higher degree for example most of them are doctors, engineers, accouters and IT employee and in their home country there is a lack of job opportunities and the solution is to immigrate to find a job that meets their needs and wants. Hence it's interesting topic as we believe.

Research plan

To begin with research plan, we prepared 10 question that related to the topic so that we can make a survey and distributed to our target. Our target is 21 Indian people who works in Emirates Airline in Dubai, aged between 20 to 35 in planning, headquarter, cleaning, safety, structure, cabin and engine areas. General question so that we know if the workers are satisfied or no. We distributed Saturday morning 25 of April.

Data collection plan

As a group we decide to do a survey for employees who work in emirates group, also we did it to specific workers such as transport job, Aircraft technician professionals, securities and cleaners. We decide to do this survey on Saturday morning because we were free at that day, so we went to the engineering center and we ask them to give as an entry to get in but they refuse because we don’t have our entry permission from them and visitors are not allowed only when there is a meetings with the managers, we didn't have a choice so we called our friend that works in engineering center to give them the survey and answer it. On Monday we got all the surveys answered from workers. It was not easy to do the survey because of the strict rules they have, but we got all the information we needed so easy.

Instrument:

Our question were about what degree you have ?, what is your current working position?, do you think the educational level match with your current working position?, do you feel comfortable in your working place?, do you think you deserve working in that place?, knowing that your educational level doesn’t match your working position then why you are still completing?, are you happy with the monthly working amount?, and  Do you wish to work in good or your education level position?

Sample / population:

We are calculating data from Emirates fly Engineers because it's well known that a lot of employees in their staff are working in place that extremely different than their degree. Also, engineering department always conclude Indians more than other nationality, they are sharp and intelligent in engineering.

Method:

And the only method that we use it to calculate the information by making hard copy survey, the survey was computing ten question that distributed to 21 Indian workers.

The bar chart illustrates if the workers immediately work after high school or not. As we can see, 61% of the employees and workers didn’t work immediately after high school, while 39% had work immediately after high school.

The vertical axis represents the degrees employees have. The horizontal axis shows the number of employees. The graph shows, the biggest number of workers and employees who work in Emirates Group have a bachelor degree which is about 42%.

The graph shows, many different working position In Emirates Group and every employee work in different position. The highest working position is Aircraft Technician Professionals which is 61%, in different areas such as Air craft operation, Air craft scheduling controller and Air craft production planning.

The graph shows, if workers educational level match with their current position. 58% of Workers claim that they are satisfied in their current working position.

The chart shows, if workers are comfortable in their working place. We can see that 70% of the Employees and workers are satisfied in their working place, even when 33% of workers said their educational level does not match with their current position, but still they are comfortable.

The chart shows, if employees would be successful in higher position. There were nearly 95% of the employees and workers sure that they would be successful in higher position.

The chart shows, huge number of employees are not satisfied with their salaries which is 46%. This brings me to, some of the employees are not happy at all about their salaries and it’s not enough for their status even when most of them are comfortable in their working position which is 70%.

The bar chart shows, 23% employees don’t have an options and prefer to work at any place, even when 85% of workers said that it doesn’t match with their educational level. But, 33% of the employees agree to work to get some money rather than doing nothing, while 67% of the employee’s works to have some experiences and certificates.

The bar chart shows, if workers have an opportunity to work in any company where they would like to work. In employee’s opinion, 57% said if they had an opportunity to work in any company they would work in other companies such as Etihad Airlines or as Engineer, while 42% of the employees prefer to start their own businesses rather than working for companies.

The graph shows, 47% of the employees think that if they complete their studies it will help them to improve their status. On the other hand, 51% of the employees think that if they had a good skills such as communication, planning and well organized it will help them improve their status.

Conclusion

In sum, we highly recommend the organization to hire the workers in its suitable place likewise, we recommend the ministry of labor to protect the workers’ rights. Because when workers place in job that does not match with his degree and with less salary, there will be no workers in the following years.

Individual work: I did data collection plan and analysis of the charts with the charts.

Critical thinking

v 3 reflections

1.     Making toast

The day we toast the bread I was surprised that why the Sir is holding more than six different packs of toast with a small toaster. Then the sir ask each group to toast only 3 slices of bread in the toaster. We toast 3 slices with different temperature setting, then summarize the experiment and we find out that not every type of bread will get the same setting due to the fact that some type of breads  have seeds and some are brown. I had a great experiment in this day and I learned that we should think and guess the right temperature for each toast.

2.     Developing a research question

We were asked to develop the research questions for the company we chose to search about, we chose Emirates EK engineering employees, because it was easy for us to communicate with them. We wanted to know if the education level of Indian people aged between 20 to 35 match their current working position in UAE or not, we start developing the questions which we will ask them in the survey and it might be interesting to imagine if they are working in the position which does not match with their education. Also when we was developing the questions I was asking myself if I will work in my education level or less than what I deserve.

3.     Collecting data in the field

As a group we decide to go and distribute the survey in EK engineering to know if their education level fit their working position, we was so excited to go their but unfortunately we didn’t get the entry, because of the rules. But we thought about our friend to help us distributing it for getting the surveys done. We call him immediately to ask him for help, while we didn’t get another day to get there again he came out to take the surveys. We didn’t had a good experience there but in the same time they were so friendly. The next two days we had a call from our friend and he says that all the surveys are done come and take it. We were so happy to hear that everything went well and also we learned from our mistake that we should ask for the entry before we go.

v Written reflection on my learning throughout the course

As a college student I had to think a lot while doing anything new or to do my projects, this semester I had critical thinking course that helped me a lot with my studies and how to take the right decisions, also I learned how to be more active in my group working projects and activities. The major benefit of working in a team for me was that it make it easy to learn and enhanced my understanding of the project. I have definitely learned a lot from this course, and sometime I think if I didn't had this course it will be hard for me to think and complete the studies with my own thinking ways. We had to do regular weekly class activities which we must post the activities and the research on our group blog, more importantly we should add our course Dr. to see the blog and grade it for us. The weekly blog work was fun for me I felt free to share my ideas and knowledge with my group member also by writing it in the blog, by this way of learning it definitely made my learning process more interactive, interesting and enjoyable.

4.   What changes would you suggest to the ad to make it more appealing to Emirati consumers?

doing advertisement with local UAE celebrity which are famous nowadays like BinBaz ( Abdul-Aziz ) or taimalfalasi  can appeal more to  Emirati consumers, also making offers or getting a free  conditioner in some seasons and more importantly they have to price the product with a fair price the customer will be able to pay.

Final Advertisement
Fitness Corn Flakes

Our advertisement is for a food product. The name of the brand is Nestle Fitness Corn Flakes and it looks after diet and healthier body which are rich in complex carbohydrate, energy, iron and vitamins. The target audience are adults. We have used a number of persuasive techniques.
The main visual technique is the large picture of a fat girl with sad, emotion, embarrass and how badly she feel about her weight but after eating a healthy fitness corn flakes she become a happy thin and healthy girl. Furthermore, the picture demonstrate that if you eat healthy cereals every day you will be healthy. Also, it will help you maintain your weight.
Another visual technique is the name of the corn flakes which is Fitness with two small circle around it which shows you that it is low fat and it contain 53% whole grain and by that it will get adults attention and make it easy for them to buy it. Our aim from this drawing to highlight the name of the product to catch adult’s eyes.
The question at the top of our advertisement is aimed directly at adults who want to lose weight and be heathy. We used simple words so the message is easy to understand. The sentence under the two small circles and below picture answers the question.
The techniques which we use in our advertisement are:
1- Pathos: the picture illustrate how guilty and sad the girl is about her weight but after trying fitness corn flakes she become more happy and excited about losing weight.
2- Logos: one meal of fitness corn flakes every day let you maintain your weight with low fat and 53% of whole grain. Moreover, women who eat more than 48g of whole grain a day tend to have a healthier body weight and they are also less likely to gain weight over time
3- Ethos: it had experiments by fitness professionals such as vientre Plano and pancia piatta in their fitness program.
To sum up, our advertisement is based on the main promise of fitness and healthier body for adults.
4- Slogans: Fitness corn flakes logo is a memorable logo which have a unique big name with a girl picture.
5- Comparatives and superlatives: is the newest and the best diet corn flakes that you can eat three times a day without feeling hunger after it.
6- Exclamation marks: we used it in the picture for the fat girl by questioning that what should she do and is there any product that can reduce her weight.
7- Color: we colored the fitness corn flakes by the same color as the real one to show you how powerful is the corn flakes because its contain green which means wealth and blue which means trust and security.

The advertisement is very effective because now a days people who are fat or overweight thinks to diet without eating anything which can affect their health and body and do surgery to reduce the fat which also can be risk. The fitness corn flakes is not only for diet it’s also contain ingredients that makes the body strong and perfect such as iron, energy, vitamins, grain, protein, carbohydrates, fiber, minerals and calcium.
